Lisa Stampnitzky's book, Disciplining Terror: How Experts Invented Terrorism (forthcoming, Cambridge University Press) explains how political violence became "terrorism," and how this transformation led to the current "war on terror."
She received her B.A. in Sociology from New College of Florida, and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California at Berkeley. She has held fellowships at Harvard, Oxford, Ohio State, the European University Institute, and Stanford.
